I have to admit that I'm not a fan of Halloween, and I'm always happy to see the day pass so we can move on to the next big event, which for us will be Peak to Fong on Sunday 26th November. I should warn any potential participants who haven't already bought the T-shirt-tickets that we're already having to scramble around for sizes, and even I had to remind the team that I would need to have one put aside. It would be great if we could just make some more to satisfy demand but there's a limit on the numbers we're allowed to have joining the event, so please don't leave it too late. I have to admit that I'm very happy to see that everyone is as enthusiastic as we are about the return of the best dog event in town, and it's going to be an amazing day for sure.
While I'm on the subject of Peak to Fong, can I also remind you that there's a sponsorship form in the T-shirt packing, and this is not just for decoration but a big and very important part of the fundraising aspect of Peak to Fong. This has been a very challenging year for HKDR, in fact a challenging few years, and we're relying on this event to bring in much-needed funding for the coming months.

We took in a new poodle today, and when I say new I don't mean a puppy, just new to us. In fact this poor guy is far from "new" with his bad skin and dirty teeth, but we'll get him fixed up and looking like a different dog before too long. I called him Wiggy because he looks like he's wearing a judge's wig.
We had a great month for adoptions, with a total of fifty one dogs and puppies finding homes during October. Thanks to all adopters for giving the previously homeless a family to call their own.
At the end of each month's adoption total we also mention our Forever Dogs, meaning those who stayed with us until the end of their natural lives. They never found their own families, but we took care of them from the moment they arrived until the day they left, because that's what being a No Kill Organisation means.
