Sun 1st Oct: A quietly successful day

It seemed like (almost) every man and his dog was out taking advantage of the wonderful holiday weekend weather today, as it was unusually quiet for a Sunday.   We had been expecting that the new poodle boy, Oberon, would be picked up first thing by his would-be adopter, and when that didn't happen we had a waiting list, all of whom were busy having fun instead.  So right now this gorgeous doglet is still available, and anyone interested should complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.

The other new dogs have names now

Eliza and Paxton will stay together

However, it's wasn't a wasted day by any means, and we had we had two double home-goings, with one being particularly special because it finally allowed me to close the file on the nineteen "P" puppies that arrived in February in one very big furry group.  Today Paxton left for his new home, but he wasn't alone as he took fellow Kennedy Town North Street resident Eliza with him, and both are doing well.  Paxton is a shy boy so he really needed to be with another dog as a companion, and we're very grateful for the kindness of his new family for understanding that some dogs don't do well on their own.

Kimbo was adopted today

There's another family who have shown great kindness to our dogs in need of home comforts and love, and today they confirmed that their Typhoon Foster dog Kimbo would be staying forever.

Whisker is fostered, Paw is adopted

Our second double home-going was that of new puppies Whisker and Paw, named by the manager of Whiskers N Paws where the youngsters were staying.   I say home-going rather than adoption, because only one pup was officially adopted with the second being taken on a foster basis. Jimmy Tsang was the volunteer photographer for the very small puppy party today Puppy Adoption Day 1st Oct 2023, but I'm happy to say that normal service will be  resumed next Sunday with the return from holiday of our long-term and regular adoption volunteer, Catherine Ko.

Thank you Caitlyn, Catrina and Emma!

I also want to thank three lovely young donors who came to Whiskers N Paws today to sign the Giant Twopresents Cheque.

Usko is such a special doglet

I want to mention Usko again, because this boy is really very special, and you can see from Jimmy's photos how sweet and gentle he is with the baby puppies.  This is a dog who is totally fine with any other animal, and human babies too.  Everyone loves Usko and we're just waiting for the right family to say yes, we want to take him home.

Sunshine looks very relaxed

Finally, another foster puppy was adopted, and this time it was Sunshine.  She looks very relaxed in her new home after a busy day of packing and unpacking and settling in.

You may have seen that there's another typhoon potentially heading our way, and although it won't reach Hong Kong until next weekend I would like to prepare for a worst case scenario. We will be needing Typhoon Foster homes for the Tai Po dogs if the weather turns bad, so if you will be able to take in one or two dogs for the duration of the bad weather and heavy rain, please complete the foster form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/, or if you are already a registered foster let Cindy know you are available if needed.  Her email is foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.
