Mon 30th Oct: An early Halloween

Parker

I know it's a day early, but I wanted to share this Halloween photo of Parker, who some of you might recall was adopted not too long ago.  Unfortunately he didn't fit in with the family dynamics so I suggested it would be best for everyone if he came back, and as he's still only eleven months old and a small-medium size, I'm sure he'll find another home that suits his rather shy personality better.   In many cases it's not that the adopters do anything wrong or treat a dog badly, it's only that the home isn't a good fit for that particular personality.  If it doesn't work then it's best to try again, and we have seen returned dogs go to new homes where they have been very happy.

If you would like to meet Parker with a view to adopting, I should mention that shy dogs do best in homes where there's another dog to be their companion and mentor.

I'm also feeling optimistic about some other upcoming potential adoptions, which of course I won't mention, but one of them is a pair.  When dogs form strong partnership bonds we will always try to keep them together, because although it's definitely more of a challenge, it seems cruel to separate two dogs that are very close.  In many cases when one dog from such a pair dies, the other will follow not long afterwards.

I know from my Lamma dogs that some form female groups (males don't do this), some bond as male-female couples, and some males have a best friend they hang out with.  Lucy and Lola are a pair that we would very much like to see adopted together, and you can meet these lovely smaller girls at our Kennedy Town Centre.

Please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ if you're interested in any of our dogs and puppies.  We'll get back to you very quickly.
