Sonic was today's lucky Tai Po dog |
The best adoptions of all are those that take place at our Tai Po Homing Centre, home to hundreds of dogs that hope every day that it will be their turn. We, the humans, also hope the same, and probably even more so as we have more awareness of the situation, while dogs just accept every day as it comes. However there's no doubt that their character and behaviour adapts while they are staying at the Homing Centre, because they can't be their true selves when living as part of a group. It's after adoption, and when they feel settled and secure in their own home that the true personality is free to come out, and that's so lovely to see.
The two "Warehouse Rain Babies" celebrated a milestone in their lives today as their eyes opened, which usually happens at two weeks of age. They will soon be able to eat from a bowl rather than just drink milk from a bottle, and every day of a very young puppy's life means a big step forward in their development. In just a few weeks they'll be ready for adoption, although they could even go to a new home right now as long as they could stay together. It's easy to tell the two boys apart as one has a pink nose and the other a black nose.
The new intake at Kennedy Town were all licensed today, and on Tuesday will be heading to Acorn for their health checks.
On Tuesday we have more dogs coming in from AFCD, the husky and two puppies, and there are still more due to arrive from another AFCD Centre later.

The second group includes the "mini bulldog", so if anyone is interested in a dog like this please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/. We would really like to have a home waiting for her if at all possible.
