Thurs 5th Oct: Volunteering is back!

Thankfully it looks as though there won't be a typhoon this weekend, and that's a huge relief, especially for the Tai Po dogs and my little corner of Lamma.  I love living right by the sea but it does have its downside when the weather turns bad.

We're also happy to announce that we will be resuming volunteer recruitment at our Tai Po Homing Centre after a long, and necessary, break to sort out a large backlog and to set up a new system.  I know I have received so many enquiries about the situation, and there was nothing I could do, even though I hate to turn away genuine volunteers.  I use the word genuine because a lot of applicants were one-time-only types, and this is one of the reasons why we realised we needed to change some things.

Tai Po Orientation classes available! (0ver 18's only please).

If you're ready to roll up your sleeves, get a little dirty, and make a real difference in the lives of our dogs at the Tai Po Homing Centre, we invite you to join us! As a Kennel volunteer at Tai Po, you'll have the opportunity to work hands-on with our dogs, providing them with the love and care they need to thrive. You will also help with cleaning, or assist with maintenance and other tasks around the shelter, as well as walking the dogs.

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels, and we provide all the training and support you need to succeed. Whether you're an experienced animal lover or just starting out, as long as you are ready to commit to regular volunteering, you are most welcome to join.

A Kennedy Town outing

In case you're interested in the Kennedy Town Centres, the volunteer recruitment has always been open and we especially need volunteers that can help out during the week.  We have currently some amazing and dedicated volunteers who do such a great job, but we always need more than just the hardcore base.   Apart from anything else, volunteering is a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends, and I know there are a group who regularly take the Kennedy Town dogs out for lunch (luckily there are many places that allow dogs outside).

Fostering is also a form of volunteering, and you can apply at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/.
