Weds 6th Oct: Donut and Ziti are still waiting

It's going to take a long time to fix poor Lottie

We see some shocking cases of cruelty and neglect in the dogs that come to us, usually ex-breeder dogs like the recently-arrived schnauzer Lottie, who's now enjoying a real life for the first time in a foster home. She was really in a bad way when she arrived and treatment in these cases always takes time as the most serious issues have to be dealt with first, and then we work through the list of less urgent matters.
Judy has everything wrong with her

The other day we took in a shih tzu (Judy) in even worse condition, and as I understand it she's been kept as a kindergarten pet, but how she could have suffered such serious neglect is quite sickening. There isn't a single part of her that's unaffected, and she's going to need a lot of treatment to have a decent quality of life, if that's even possible.  Once again I have to thank the kindness of Judy's  new foster home for taking on such a huge challenge as we start the long road to recovery.

I usually stay at home on Wednesdays because it's driver Ming's day off and I often need the van for one reason or another, but I'd agreed to do an interview today and also wanted to buy some food in case the weather prevented me from getting over to the shops later in the week.  One bonus of being at the Homing Centre is that I get to see the dogs and puppies, even if it means being attacked by rows of very sharp puppy teeth and my shoelaces being shredded.  There are many things I love about puppies, but I don't miss the chewing and biting.   If you'd also prefer to skip this stage of a dog's life then please consider adopting a young adult, as we have so many wonderful dogs staying at our Tai Po Homing Centre and waiting to be chosen.

Donut has been loved his whole life

Donut and Ziti, for example, came to us as baby puppies and are now young adults, both very sweet characters and with no history of bad treatment, only love.
Sweet Ziti is waiting for a home
