Again, residents of Hong Kong will need no reminder that today was pretty bad in terms of the weather, and I was lucky enough to be able to get out for a walk before the really heavy, driving rain started. This time Rag and Griffin came along too, which was nice as I missed their company the day before.
Dennis the Menace is adopted |
Despite the T8 signal and Iris being the only person manning the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre in the morning (and on her official day off too), one adopter was there bright and early to take Dennis the Frenchie home. I always think it's a particularly happy adoption when dogs leave during really bad weather, although of course that mainly applies to the Tai Po Homing Centre where the majority of dogs live in outdoors enclosures. Dennis arrived as part of a large group of small adults, plus a couple of puppies, on two consecutive days, and for a while we had a very full Homing Centre. Dennis wasn't very sociable (and I'm being kind here), which is why he waited for a suitable home, and now we've run out of Frenchies (Spud and Squash were the other two).
If we'd have realised quite how bad the wind and rain was going to be during Typhoon Lionrock we would have asked for typhoon fosters for the Tai Po dogs, so now in anticipation of more bad weather on the way this coming week, if you can offer your home as a warm and dry shelter for the duration of the rain please contact either Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, or if you've previously fostered a Tai Po dog, just go to the Homing Centre to see which ones are esepcially in need.
The Tai Po dogs mostly live outside |
The "A" Litter at Ap Lei Chau |
At least we can enjoy a short break in the weather for the Puppy Party at Whiskers N Paws, and it may even be possible for the youngsters to get out onto the terrace for a runaround. We've got a full quota of hopefuls this Sunday, and even if not all will be at Whiskers N Paws, you can still meet the overflow at our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, as well as any time before 2pm and after 4pm.
I must say I am partial to the puppies or dogs with the black muzzles. They all look so cute in the above photo.
