Dogs are welcome of course! |
There was a great turnout for the Soho East Halloween event at the Sai Wan Ho Waterfront Park, and it continues on Sunday if you want to go along to see what's happening there.
Another lucky (and lovely) Typhoon Foster dog had his permanent status confirmed, and this time Cheerio had to prove that he would get along with both the resident dog and the cat. Everything has gone very smoothly, and Cheerio even shares a bed with the cat on occasion.
I think the cat took the photo |
Two more small dogs left our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre today, namely Tim and Tegan, and again you can see their mini size in the adoption photos.
Little Tegan heading home |
There are still a lot of smaller dogs available, but regardless of numbers the same adoption criteria apply. Unfortunately in many cases the homes that are offered don't take into consideration the needs of a dog beyond absolute basics, and in such situations the Homing Centre can offer a much happier life. We don't operate on an "any home is better than none" basis, because many of our dogs came from such poor situations to start with and we don't plan on sending them to another. If you don't have the time to take care of a dog properly, then please don't even think of having one. You can always volunteer and spend as much time as you want in the company of dogs without the full time commitment of having one at home.
Tim was a popular boy |
On a final good news note, ex-HKDR lost Lantau dog May (as shared on our HKDR Facebook page) found her way home again after having been missing for some days. She was thin but otherwise unharmed, and I suspect that she got stuck somehow and maybe only managed to escape once she had lost some weight and could wriggle free. Anyway, she's home and safe now.
So happy to hear that May is safe and back home!
