Sun 4th Oct: Finally a beautiful day for the puppies

Two pretty girls together

At last the weather was perfect for the Whiskers N Paws Puppy Party on the terrace, and it was another busy two hours for our volunteers who are kind enough to donate their time, including regular photographer Jimmy Tsang.  You can see his wonderful photos here Puppy Adoption Day 3rd Oct 2021, and they include the adoption of Letty, a very popular puppy by all accounts.  As always happens, many visitors spent the two hours meeting the puppies with the intention of going home to have a think before finally deciding on which lucky one they'll take home.
Look at me, I have a new family!

Over at our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre it was French bulldog Squash's big day as she left for her new home.  She's a wonderful dog, happy, friendly and full of energy, and she was more than willing to roll over to have her tummy tickled during her interview at the dog park.  There's been a lot of interest in Squash with a lot of meetings, but she found the best home of all today.

Squash is great with the kids

We do have one more Frenchie available, a young male called Dennis, and as often happens I chose exactly the right name for him as he really is Dennis the Menace.   It's probably that he was under-socialised as a puppy, but he's really not friendly towards other dogs so we're looking for a home with an understanding and experienced adopter who can teach Dennis to let go of his anger.  It's quite possible to do this, especially with the help and advice of our trainer Cactus.

Dennis needs an understanding adopter

Squash and Dennis were two of a large number of small dogs we took in from the same source not long ago, and now all of these dogs have found homes except Dennis, Dina and terrier Dylan.

Now-Shep was found wandering the streets

We took in an unexpected new dog today, a border collie found wandering and in poor condition.  After checking with AFCD we established he had no license, so no registered owner and no confirmed age.  He's not a particularly young dog but not old either, and he's very friendly.  If this is your dog and you want to claim him back, then be prepared to explain to AFCD why he wasn't licensed and was wandering the streets.   There's a good reason why dogs need to have a  license proving they have been vaccinated against rabies and showing who the owner is.
