Tues 5th Oct: Website upgrade completed

I don't know what weather we can expect over the weekend other than rain apparently, but for now it's absolutely perfect. Even some of the dogs that have been staying behind for my morning walk because it's been too hot for them signed up again today, although I think mega-hulk Safari regretted that decision.  Regardless of rain, wind or even typhoons, our Homing Centres at Tai Po and Ap Lei Chau are open every single day so the dogs can be fed and walked, and the premises cleaned.

Sweet Hazel has her new family

At least two of the Tai Po dogs won't be worrying about the weather any more as Hazel left for her new home (in Hong Kong), while Jenny was boarding her flight to Vancouver and a whole new country.
Jenny looks relaxed before her flight!

Puppy Biscuit was also heading off from our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre after an initial meeting at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday.  This has become quite normal now, that potential adopters take a day or two to consider all of the available puppies before deciding on the lucky individual, and that's a great way to approach adoption.  We've seen too many impulse choices that end up with the dog or puppy coming back and that's not fair for anyone, least of all the dog.

Shep is an incredibly sweet boy

Although not an impulse choice, border collie Shep won't be adopted permanently by the family that took him home after his surgery, because his age was estimated to be around eight years, which is more than initially thought.  His now-foster family will be heading back to New Zealand in a few years so wanted a dog that would be young enough to fly back with them.  However for now they're enjoying Shep's super-friendly nature and he can stay until a permanent home is found.  I should also mention that he had the most horrendously infected ears, so that may have been one of the reasons for him being abandoned.

We also took in the golden retriever boy, who turned out to be not even three years old yet, and actually not as boisterous or high energy as we'd been anticipating.  He was happily running around with the other dogs at the Tai Po Homing Centre for a while, then once he'd had enough he lay down quietly.  We were expecting Peanut to be picked up during the afternoon to go straight to a new home, but a sick child who had to be suddenly collected from school meant a change to those plans, but it's not a bad thing that Peanut can relax and decompress in the company of his many new friends at the Homing Centre.

For all adoption enquiries please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ as a first step.  We've been having some issues with our website due to the high amount of traffic which meant we needed to upgrade, but everything is working properly again now and you can check out the available adult dogs at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/dogs/

The puppies aren't shown on the website because they grow and change too quickly for us to be continually updating their photos, but you can see them all on our Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) Facebook page, and on the weekly albums from the Sunday Whiskers N Paws parties  Puppy Adoption Day 3rd Oct 2021
