Weds 20th Oct: Dogs, dogs and more dogs

Just a reminder

Yes, it's time for the big news many of the readers of my blog wait for - we will have a large number of small dogs arriving on Friday, with more to follow in the subsequent few days.  The number is never guaranteed until the dogs are in the van and on their way to us, but it should be around thirty on Friday with a total of up to fifty eventually.   I've been told there are schnauzers, terriers, shiba inu, French bulldogs, poms and all the usual small-sized mixes, and I believe some mixed breed puppies too.

If you have already completed the adoption questionnaire and have been invited to come to meet the dogs you don't need to fill the form in again, however if you're interested and haven't yet completed the questionnaire please do so before coming to meet the dogs.  I will reply as soon as possible, with many enquiries getting an immediate response if I'm at my desk, but please wait for a confirmation email before  visiting the Homing Centre.  Even with as many dogs as we anticipate having available, the same adoption requirements apply.

We will also be asking for foster homes for some (or many) of the dogs depending on their health, age and condition, and the foster parents will be asked to take the dogs to the ALCVC vet for health check and vaccination.  We will cover those costs, as well as providing food, bowls etc, so please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can take in a dog temporarily.  Please understand that we have no idea how healthy the dogs are, and we can only make very superficial assessments to start with.   That means if they appear to be in good health and condition we will assume they're fine.

There are also four small dogs coming from another source, a breeder apparently.  Two shiba inu, one a puppy, are being let go because of inborn leg defects which may require amputation depending on what Dr Tony at Acorn says.  Another shiba inu and a pom puppy have post-distemper issues, meaning they have recovered from the virus but I assume are suffering from typical neurological damage.    We will need foster homes for these dogs and puppies so again please contact Cindy.

Sweet boy Ziti is doing fantastically in his new home, just as we knew he would.  Dogs that have been with us since they were puppies have had nothing but love, lots of playmates and plenty of good training, everything that results in a happy and well-adjusted young adult.
