Sun 9th Oct: Rainbabies and more

Sweet Wendy has her forever family now

I'm going to start with an adoption from our Tai Po Homing Centre because these mean the most to me, the larger-sized adult mixed breeds, overlooked and undervalued.  Wendy is a sweetheart, and I'm very happy to know that she has a loving home now.  Thank you adopters, and to everyone who chooses a dog without thinking about looks or breed, rather personality and the capacity to love.
Storm, Torrent, Rain and Puddle

If you follow the HKDR Facebook page you'll know that we put out an emergency call for foster homes after a litter of newborn puppies was found, washed down the hillside by the heavy rain.  In fact I'd been expecting this call, knowing that there would inevitably be such cases, and I imagine that many (hundreds possibly) of newborns perished during the typhoon.  The puppies that were rescued were already very weak, with at least one already having died and another on the way, and although I was asked to take seven only four actually arrived at the Homing Centre.  Thanks to Cindy, our amazing volunteer Foster Coordinator, we had foster homes lined up for all of the puppies, but in the end only two were needed.  However, I imagine with the weather forecast to turn bad again in the week there is quite likely to be more such puppies found so hopefully we'll have fosters waiting.  You'll be able to follow the progress of two of the current litter on Instagram@why_i_foster, and I know I'll be checking in regularly.   You can also see the babies' first feed here Happy Woof , and boy were they hungry!

Pancake was the puppy chosen during the mini-event

Eric Tang was the volunteer photographer at Whiskers N Paws, and as always his photos are beautiful Puppy Adoption Day 10th Oct 2021.  Although there was only one adoption during the two hours that all of the puppies were there together, two of the resident sisters left the store today to begin their new lives, that's Lizzie and Lyra.  Now only Lula is left, and we'll have to find her a new friend on Monday.

I should also mention two other puppies who found a home together without ever needing to be at Whiskers N Paws or our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and they're Nino and Nettie.  They'll be moving straight from their foster home to join their new family, the very best result we could hope for.
Dina and family

A lot of people have asked about little Dina at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and once again there were two potential adopters who came at the same time today and obviously only one could be the lucky family to take Dina home.
