I was on standby to help with the anticipated arrival of an unknown number of small dogs in the afternoon, but had to make a dash over to Ap Lei Chau when the message came at lunchtime that the dogs were already on their way. I had, in fact, made a previous arrangement to introduce little Lamma dog Banjo to someone, but that plan to be shelved as I knew there weren't enough staff at the Homing Centre to handle the influx of newbies. Potential adopters were already coming to meet the previous six arrivals, so an extra pair of hands was definitely needed.
Dimple (l) joins another ex-HKDR dog |
Of the twelve new dogs that turned up there were two puppies, and the photo here shows only eight adults because two have already been adopted, a pug and one of the beautiful poodle-terrier girls. I had only just had time to have a quick look, estimate age (all around a year old except Stella the poodle cross and Sonic the pom (type) being just a bit older) and give names (why does my mind go blank when I have to do this?) when the two were chosen. We have individual photos of each dog which shows them more clearly if you're particularly interested in any, but they're all beautiful and very friendly. Only the French bulldog girl Squash wasn't too good with the others, but she loves humans.
The two new puppies |
I also had to name the two newborns that were dropped off just before being picked up again by their new foster parent (thank you), and they're now Jack and Jill. They seem to be just a few days old so it will be some time before you read about them again.
Suzy was in and out in minutes |
As a reminder here are the previous dogs that arrived on Thursday, and they have all now been to the vet for their check-ups and vaccinations. Dimple and Devon have been adopted, while Diesel is just a puppy.
Gorgeous Devon went home today |
Thankfully the puppies will be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday afternoon for the regular puppy party, 2pm to 4pm, so it will allow some breathing space at the Homing Centre for both staff and potential adopters. If you're interested in adopting any of the dogs, small or large, please make sure you complete the questionnaire and wait for a reply BEFORE coming to meet them. The questionnaire is at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ and I will be on standby as always to receive the forms and to reply. Please check your Spam inbox if you're waiting.
I knew Dimple and Devon would go quickly! What a wonderful lot of dogs!
