Whitney found her way back to the Homing Centre |
Before anything else I want to mention that lost dog Whitney made her own way back to the Tai Po Homing Centre after running off when she was spooked the other day by a passing van. The centre really is home to the dogs that live there, especially the long-termers, and lost dogs will always try to get back if they can.
There was more good news from Tai Po when potential adopters came and made their choices, so I hope to be able to share adoption photos very soon.
Young corgi Esme had her second chance today after having been returned from her first adoption due to the cat being very unhappy. Cats are often the ones who make decisions about whether or not a dog can stay, but we do urge adopters to give it more that a few days to let things work out. Anyway we knew Esme would quickly find another home as she's young and very sweet, and we were right.
I'm so happy for Phaedra |
A rather less easy dog was also given a chance at a new life today, and I'm talking about cocker spaniel Phaedra. After a few meetings and walks together, which included her now "brother", another cocker, Phaedra was picked up and taken home. This was a particularly happy adoption given the sad back story of Phaedra having been abandoned, and with a badly injured paw and heartworm. Phaedra is now Charlie and the morning's update just received is that she's doing really well.
Lottie, used and discarded by a breeder |
Ex-breeder schnauzer Lottie also tested positive for heartworm as well as having terrible teeth and infected gums. What can I say about breeders that I haven't said before? They don't give a damn about the dogs they force to produce endless litters of puppies, and there is no punishment for the misery and suffering they put the dogs through.
Fritter has a forever home |
Puppy Fritter was adopted from his foster home meaning he's no longer available, as was Laura, who moved to her new home with sister Laika (fingers crossed that she might also be allowed to stay forever).
Fritter's sisters Biscuit and Crumpet came back to Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre today so they'd be able to go to the puppy afternoon at Whiskers N Paws along with many other hopefuls.
Luckily we won't be affected by any typhoons so the puppies will be able to enjoy their playtime on the terrace. As always please complete the adoption questionnaire in advance if you plan on coming to meet the puppies, and you can find it at www.hongkongdogsrecue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
