Mon 13th Sept: Adoptions and CSR Volunteering

Petey came to us with a group of small dogs

As I've written about before, Monday is often a day when potential adopters make up their minds after having met the dogs and puppies over the weekend and have made their decision.  So today it was Petey, resident of Whiskers N Paws, who had his adoption paperwork completed, as well as Ruthie who has been chosen.

I was also at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to introduce the adorable K-Pups, and it was terrier-type Kindle who will be heading off to his new home on Tuesday.  We had been worried about the health of this litter when they first arrived, but with good food and care they are all doing really well.

As has been mentioned by everyone who's met them, the K-Pups are all completely different from each other, with Kindle (adopted) being the terrier, Kia the dachshund type, Kit the fluffy kid and Kimmy the tiniest and like a chihuahua.  Kibble stayed in hospital for a few days because we were worried about him, but he too is doing fine and can leave full-time veterinary care.  We have potential homes for some of the pups (Kit and Kia), and were really just waiting to see that they were healthy.

Apart from individual volunteers who do an amazing job of supporting our small team of HKDR staff, we also welcome volunteer groups, such as those carrying out their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) days. If you or your company is interested in participating, please email Yannie at yannie@hongkongdogrescue.com for details.

A break from the heavy lifting

HKDR x HKJC Woof Woof Walk program
The CARE@hkjc volunteer group has completed multiple sessions of service at our Tai Po Homing Centre over the past 6 months. The group not only made a generous donation to purchase new cooling fans and dog houses, but also physically helped with the replacement, cleaning and moving the materials uphill.
All of the volunteers have been very helpful and passionate. These duties of cleaning and heavy lifting are not the easiest tasks, especially during such hot weather, but how the team took it seriously to improve the well-being of our dogs is the spirit we’ve been looking for! Thank you HKJC and volunteers from the CARE@HKJC team!
