Weds 12th Sept: A happy apology

This was the upsetting scene after last year's T10
Like everyone who has outside dogs to think about, my mind today was on the approaching typhoon and what I needed to do to try to minimise damage while keeping the dogs safe.  Last year's Super Typhoon Kato really showed me what a ferocious wind is capable of, and if what's predicted actually happens we're in for a real battering.

Whatever happens, there will be a big clean up needed after Sunday
The same applies to our Tai Po Homing Centre of course, and we really need foster homes for the duration of the bad weather, starting as soon as possible.  The staff won't be able to handle foster enquiries once the typhoon gets close, so please email may@hongkongdogrescue.com or eva@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help.  This could be a very serious situation, and while I'm really hoping the direction will change and we will all be laughing about it later, at this point it's not funny.

We also need foster homes for the small dogs and puppies at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, because although they have shelter if the typhoon is really as bad as predicted there may be nobody to go to feed and clean.  To foster any of these dogs please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, thank you.
Rufus and Zara
Fingers crossed for Wallace!

At least two of the puppies won't need any temporary help as they left the Homing Centre with their new families today.  One of these was Rufus, the smaller of the two labrador brothers, with the other being Wallace.  His adoption comes with a happy apology from me for giving out wrong information regarding tick fever, and getting dogs that have been infected into Australia.  I mistakenly thought that both types of tick fever, babesia and erlichia, would mean the dog would fail an entry blood test, but I have since been told that only applies to New Zealand.  For dogs entering Australia it's only erlichia that matters, so assuming Wallace only had babesia he will be able to travel with his family after all.  Maybe I'm jumping the gun with my celebration as Wallace will have a test to check for antibodies, so fingers crossed it won't show that he had both types of tick fever.
