Sun 25th Feb: More good news from Tai Po

Paris and Loofah are now officially siblings
Although Paris was taken home for a trial with ex-HKDR Loofah a week or so ago it was today that her adoption was confirmed and she officially joined the family.  As another ex-Lamma puppy I'm extra happy about this, especially as Paris was always the shy one of her litter.

York looking very much at home

Two long-termers paired up, again after a trial, as volunteer Susan - who has been with HKDR since the very early days - formally adopted York, also known to his fans as Yat Yat.  York has been a fixture at Tai Po for many years and was one of too-many dogs that we thought would end his days at the Homing Centre, so you can imagine how happy we all are that he has a real home now with another ex-HKDR dog, Polo.

Chewy checking in for her flight to Taiwan
Chewy left Hong Kong today for her new life in Taiwan, and she will be happy not to see the Tai Po Homing Centre again as she is seriously allergic to something in the air at the site.  Even just coming to say goodbye today started her snuffling again, and when she was staying at the Homing Centre her nose was running constantly.

Over at our Ap Lai Chau Homing Centre poodle Larkin was adopted while schnauzer Nuggie went for a trial, and we welcomed the new poodle cross I mentioned was coming.
This 3 year-old girl is now called Cherry
Sweet Larkin has a family of her own now

We have a bit of a crisis with the puppies and their foster homes returning them after the Chinese New Year break, and although a couple were lucky enough to go straight out again to new foster homes by the end of the Whiskers N Paws afternoon Teddy and Monty had to come back to Lamma, and others will be returned during the week.  The two returnees have been crying and I feel desperately sorry for them, knowing this is the downside of foster homes and hoping that they will have new fosters, or even better forever homes, very soon.  They are lovely boys, very sweet and happy characters, so please let Cindy know if you can offer them bed and board by emailing foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.

Lucky Aden has several siblings still needing homes
At least one foster puppy was saved from having to be returned, as Aden found her forever home at Whiskers N Paws.  However her siblings Stan and Emu are another two that will be needing a new place to stay very soon.  The full photo album for the Whiskers N Paws afternoon will be published shortly.
Monty and Teddy urgently need a place to stay, not necessarily together

Although still waiting for Sunday's puppy photos you can take a look at this great set by Dani Bartlett from Saturday's

The HKDR dogs and volunteers at Lee Tung Avenue today

Winding up the Year of the Dog celebrations, the Lee Tung Avenue Dog Walk was a great success and everyone enjoyed the afternoon.  All proceeds from the event will be donated to HKDR to support our work in rescuing and rehoming dogs and puppies in need, and thank you to everyone for your support.
