Sat 16th Dec: Hooray for cooler weather

With just a week to go until Christmas Eve,  it's at least feeling more seasonal with the sudden drop in temperature, and the dogs are loving it.  I'm sure there are going to be huskies wrapped up in dog coats, but really this is a time of year when they can finally enjoy the weather that suits them best.  It's also a time when humidity-related skin problems disappear, and walking in the countryside becomes much more pleasurable than the usual sweaty hikes.

Super-gorgeous Finn

There's another Instagram account for you to check out for adorable puppy photos, and this is @sweet_pawtatoe, currently fostering Finn and Frankie, two of the new "F" litter.

Bandit and Bethany

Two other puppies are staying at @foster_doggie_hk, and these are Bandit and Bethany.  You can meet them in person on Sunday at Whiskers N Paws, along with their brother Jack, who is now staying at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre with Romy and Rufus.

There have been quite a few enquiries about Bandit and Bethany since their photos were shared on our Facebook and Instagram (@hkdr_official) pages, but almost all are going to be away for the upcoming holiday period so can't consider adopting until January.  It may seem reasonable enough to start looking for a puppy now, but obviously we can't guarantee that any of our current crop of youngsters will still be available later, in fact we hope they will be in homes before then.   I have just reminded myself to ask potential adopters if they are looking to take a dog or puppy home immediately, because it's better to wait before meeting any candidates rather than choosing someone and then having to go through the whole process again.

Hugo

Thankfully all of our puppies are in foster homes other than the three shown here, but all of the larger adults that arrive at our Tai Po Homing Centre aren't so lucky.   In fact the chances of the middle-aged and senior dogs finding homes is really low, with even labrador Reuben and golden retriever Hugo still waiting after quite some time.  Usually these breeds are so popular that their stay with us is short, and both dogs are really happy and friendly so it's not their behaviour that's the issue.
Reuben

We were recently asked if we would accept a very lovely looking dog that has been found stray, and we agreed to do so.  However Seth turned out to have two types of tick fever after having been homeless for however long, and that means some time before he's going to be fully healthy again.

Seth is very sweet

If anyone can offer a foster home for him, that would be very helpful for both us and Seth.  Please complete the foster form if you can help Seth until he's well enough to be adopted: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/.
