Fri 8th Dec: More incoming dogs

The boy is now called Dollar

When we were recently asked to take in an eight year-old chihuahua-cross boy, we weren't told at the time that there was also a girl around the same age, but both were brought to our Kennedy Town Centre today. They're now Dollar (the boy, whose name was Yat Yuen) and Dina, who was called Sik Sik.  Obviously it would be lovely if they could stay as a pair, and being only small in size it's easy enough to keep two.

As always, if you're interested in adopting any of our dogs or puppies please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.

We have some puppies moving from foster homes this weekend, and from Kennedy Town hopefully, so I hope I'll have some happy news to share very soon.

Bunny, made homeless by redevelopment

Unfortunately at our Tai Po Homing Centre the movement of dogs is very much one way, and that is in.  The most recent arrivals were a pair of dogs that had become homeless due to the forced relocation of their family to make way for redevelopment in the New Territories, and although offered new government housing this also means no dogs are allowed.  This is such a cruel policy, and once again it's the animal NGOs that are left to pick up the pieces, both in terms of accommodating the animals, and the financial burden that comes with every new dog.

Rather than financial assistance which is so badly needed, or actual helpful and practical action like Trap, Neuter and Return programmes to desex the stray dogs rather than letting them reproduce non-stop, AFCD have instead spent their money on www.instagram.com/animalwelfareprojecthk   Website: https://animalwelfareproject.hk/ .  I don't know if any of you have seen any of the promotional materials that have been used, but in my opinion they achieve very little, if anything, and are merely wallpaper.  Will these posters honestly make any difference whatsoever to the animals or their owners/keepers?  I very much doubt it.
