We had another surprise arrival today after being asked if we could accept some small puppies, all girls as it turned out. They were dropped off at our North Street Centre late afternoon, and I had to quickly come up with names to add to the photos. The pups are six weeks old so too young to be adopted as singletons, so I hope they'll be on their way to foster homes on Tuesday. We anticipate that they will be small-medium sized as adults.
Although the latest intake of puppies aren't ready for homes just yet, the "R" intake are at a perfect age and now fully healthy. These are Rennie (in foster), Rufus, Romy and Reggie, and you can meet the last three any day at our Homing Centre at Shop 4 Brilliant Court, Sai Hong Lane, 28 Praya Kennedy Town.

Barely a day goes by when we don't receive a surrender request for a dog, and there are several pending, meaning we haven't accepted the dogs yet and are hoping that we can find homes, or even fosters, rather than have them at our Tai Po Homing Centre. I've mentioned these particular dogs a few times before, the two year-old Malinois and the young Doberman, but there are others also in need of a space.

Today's surrender request was for a small dog, always easier than the larger ones. His owner lives in a "No Dogs" home, and has been told that the dog must go. So many applications to adopt come from people who also aren't supposed to keep a dog but insist that "it's OK, many other people in my building do". I know from the many cases over the years that it's really not OK, because there's always the risk that someone will complain and then the dogs have to leave.
Today was a very sad day for me as I had to say goodbye to my Lamma dog Grey, who had battled so bravely after being poisoned by a terrible weedkiller which is still widely used in Hong Kong. It was a difficult diagnosis to make, and impossible to conclusively confirm, but the result was inevitable.
So sorry to read about Grey.
