Fri 1st Nov: Back to normal for the weekend

I have to make regular shopping trips to Hong Kong Island to buy chicken for some of my old dogs whose appetite for regular food has gone, so I dragged myself  over to Aberdeen following a very late night, only to find I'd left my credit card and HKID in the small evening bag I'd been carrying the previous evening.  Oh the frustration!

We still have a waiting list of large breed dogs that need somewhere to go, one of which is the two year-old Malinois (Belgian shepherd).  He's a lovely, friendly dog but his life isn't good currently, so if anyone can give him a home please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.  I need to add that this breed is definitely not suitable for small apartments, and they need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  They're a working breed used by the police for their high intelligence and stamina, so we're looking for a home that can provide all of those things.

Poor Ronald

Ronald the Doberman has also had a sad life, having never been walked in his life.

Johnny is around 3 years old

Rottweiler Johnny is lucky in that we have already taken him in, and he was sent to Acorn today for his regular check up which all new dogs are given.  Sadly, and pretty much inevitably for dogs that aren't properly cared for, Johnny tested positive for heartworm, so his pre-treatment medication starts as of now.

Gorgeous Tilly

The same was true of lovely Tilly, a very sweet and lovely girl who was left at a grooming shop with her "brother" Glenn, who's thankfully heartworm negative.

The weekend will be back to normal, with all Homing Centres open every day from 10am to 5pm (Kennedy Town) and 6pm at Tai Po.  I hope I'm going to be sharing some adoption news over the next couple of days because we have a lot of lovely dogs and puppies just waiting for their big moment.
