Sun 3rd Sept: Two special stories

Minty and Waldo when they were still with me
I'm going to start with some very happy news about a puppy, or two really, that stole so many hearts, Minty and Waldo.  Waldo was adopted some time ago, while Minty was taken for fostering until her skin got better and Waldo was old enough to be a singleton. As so often happens the family can't bear to separate these best friends and Minty's adoption has been confirmed too.  I'm waiting for photos and am looking forward to sharing them.

Two other lucky babies found homes yesterday, fluffy Cora and already-in-foster Tara, while Dusty went for a trial with lookalike Bruin, adopted some time ago. Several other puppies were taken for fostering, and there were only two at the end of the afternoon that were sent back to the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre (Harvey and Laura).

Thanks to volunteer Simon Li for a lovely set of photos which you can see here:
Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 35 new photos from 3 September to the album Puppy Adoption Day 3 September 2017 — at Whiskers N Paws

The rain stayed away at Whiskers N Paws for almost the entire afternoon, and started just at the time young supporter Alice came to donate her birthday money to help the dogs and puppies of HKDR.  Thank you Alice for your kindness!

Schnauzer Mops and poodle Tamsin found their forever homes today, while Luigi the Neapolitan mastiff puppy left the Tai Po Homing Centre for a trial with the other dogs in the home.  He's such a funny boy and the family already love him.

Goodbye Mops!

As wonderful as the news about Minty is, there's another dog who also more than deserves a mention, as much as she deserved a soft bed and home comforts after years of waiting.  Burma came to us in the very early days of HKDR along with her almost-identical sister Samba, and they were always together, so much so that I referred to them as one dog, Sambaburma.   Sadly Samba died not long ago, but today Burma left Tai Po for a real home and hopefully for the rest of her life, however long that may be.  It's never too late to give an old dog a chance, and there are so many who would love to rest their weary bones on a cushion of their own, and not to have to worry about anything ever again.

Sadly Samba never found a home of her own

  1. Just an update on Schnauzer Mop. Timid on the first two days, she turns out to be a very playful and affectionate girl. This is true for both people and dogs. She has fit in much quicker than expected. My house is refilled with fun again. Vincent
