Fri 1st Sept: All change again

Regular Sunday volunteer Becky and her 2 foster babies
The big question was will it or won't it, meaning the third typhoon in as many weeks threatening to ruin yet another Sunday and puppy afternoon, but by the end of the day it seemed we will be safe, even if there was heavy rain and loud thunder by the afternoon.  So we are definitely back on for Whiskers N Paws, 2pm to 5pm, and in the meantime all puppies were shipped off to our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre just in case.  A few moved on from there to short-term foster homes, but it should be no problem for them to return to Lamma if not adopted on Sunday.  Take a look at the lovely video that our long-term volunteer Harryn made of the puppies playing, and you will see what a happy and friendly bunch they are. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mzc9zn7ovp2w9q6/Puppiespawty.mov?dl=0

Pugwash and Blinky during one of their short wrestling breaks

We also took in a young (under a year) shih tzu, a throwaway from a breeder because he is blind as well as having a deformed front leg.  Apart from being very cute, what was totally amazing was the instant connection between this boy, now called Blinky, and Pugwash, a senior pug who came from AFCD not long ago.  The two dogs started playing as soon as they met, and never stopped except for occasional short breaks to catch their breath.  I don't think I have ever seen this happen before, except maybe with puppies, but to witness such an unlikely pair and their non-stop wrestling was really incredible.  It was as if they had known each other for ever, and now we need to find them a home together.
Thanks to volunteer Ellen for posting these photos

It's now just one week until our first fundraising event of the season, and if September has taken you by surprise I feel the same way.  Can it really be Autumn already?  Anyway, we still have a few tickets available if you suddenly remembered that you wanted to come along, and you can email Jamie, now back in Hong Kong, at jamie@hongkongdogrescue.com for information.

Just one week to go!
