Tues 10th Aug: Welcoming a new family

The mother is the same size as her 6 puppies!

As always it was a full day with lots of things happening, but I'll start with the confirmation of yesterday's news.  First of all the anticipated mother and her six puppies arrived at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre via Tai Po where they were originally dropped off.  The mother is young and small, but her puppies are already the same size as she is.  They seem to be long in the body so we can only guess at what the father is in terms of size and looks.  Once thing's for sure, they're all gorgeous!  As always please complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step in the process: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Also confirming yesterday's hint about the 2022 Cube Calendar, applications for adopted dogs to be featured are now open.  Your dog(s) will each have their own page so you will need to send us their best photo to show them off.

We’re looking for great shots of your photogenic dogs to feature on our 365 Page-a-Day Cube Calendar again! For just $480, your adopted dog can be "Dog of the Day" with their photograph featuring exclusively for that day, and you will also receive a Cube Calendar as a complimentary gift!

If you don't have an adopted dog but still want to contribute it's not a problem. You can choose to sponsor one or more of our available HKDR dogs who are still waiting for a home to feature on their own page too. Choose a dog to sponsor or let us make the choice for you, it's up to you.
Deadline for submission: 2 September, 2021🐾🐶

Iris came over to Lamma again to give the "Small Delinquents" an opportunity to swim and have fun, and now that they're all starting to recognise her the greeting is very different from the first time.  Just like our Ap Lei Chau "Red Dogs" it's just a matter of letting them get used to you and learning that you won't hurt them.  Once the trust is there even the most suspicious of the little dogs will drop their guard and let you into their world.   We have quite a collection of such dogs and they're all available for adoption to the right home.  Just remember lucky poodle Bell and how amazingly well he's adjusted to his home and family after having been a "Red Dog" for so many years.  If you give these special needs dogs a chance you'll find that they too can be like Bell.

Damson loves to swim

Shiba inu Damson is one of the Lamma Small Delinquents, and she too will be a great little dog in the right home.  One thing we know about this breed is that they aren't happy living in small homes and with little exercise.  They are very smart and have to have the opportunity to use their intelligence otherwise they develop the typical behaviour problems we see over and over again.  Damson loves to swim, so a home where she can enjoy her favourite sport is what we're looking for.  There can't be any children in the potential home and there must be adequate space for Damson to enjoy her privacy and need for independence.
