Sat 14th Aug: Be there early for a full choice!

Cubby

As expected we had a lot of visitors coming to meet the dogs and puppies at  our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and also quite a few at Tai Po which will hopefully progress into adoptions.  I'm anticipating an even busier Sunday so with luck my Monday blog will be full of going-home photos, but for today there's just one of a new arrival, the white pomeranian.  He's now called Cubby, and he's eight years old rather than the five years given on his surrender application, and while he definitely needs his teeth sorting out everything else is up to date so he could go home any time.  If interested please complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
A beautiful family photo with Bertha

I wrote recently about how young adults, or at least older puppies, are probably more suitable for homes with young children rather than baby puppies, so I wanted to share a photo (there were actually several, all lovely) of one such adoption.  Bertha was chosen from our Tai Po Homing Centre and has proved to be the perfect addition to the family.  You'll notice the adopter is a professional photographer, who in fact used to help out at our Sunday Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoons.

Our puppies enjoy full freedom at the Homing Centre

Talking of which, here's a list of the puppies that will be at this Sunday's puppy party: sweet siblings Ruthie and Rufus, the "A" litter of Axel, Aggie, Arthur and Angus, plus five of the latest additions (Chia has a urinary infection) Charlie, Chowder, Chippy, Carly and Cricket.  Chimney is now the oldest and biggest of the Ap Lei Chau puppies, while Whiskers N Paws resident Suzy is also going to be hoping for a home just like her "room mate" Lucy.  Please be there early if you're interested in any of them!

You'll see from the photo that all of our puppies are "free range", meaning no cages, crates or kennels are used to confine them.  This allows the puppies to follow their natural instincts for toilet training (they all know exactly where to go), play and sleep, and it's the best way to be.  We do strongly request that all adopters follow these guidelines, and with the help and support of our very experienced trainer Cactus Mok, the transition to a new home will be as smooth as possible.
