Thurs 12th Aug: Still more dogs coming in

Cricket is one of the puppies

There's so much to write about again so I'm not sure in which order I should mention all of the various bits and pieces, so I'll start with directing your to Eagle's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HKDR.DOGGIES) which shows most of the available puppies including the newest gorgeous litter of six, along with their small-sized mother Candy.
Candy is the mother

The new dog turned out to be small!

We also took in another small dog but in a roundabout way.  I'd been asked if we would accept a dog that had been hit by a car and badly injured, and while now fully recovered she had lost one eye as a result.  I agreed to take her as I felt so sorry for the poor dog, and she was duly dropped off at the Tai Po Homing Centre today, only for us to see that she's a small size.  In fact she looks very like many of the other dogs that we've taken from this particular rescue group, via Catherine's Puppies, with the same funny-face underbite.  One of the Tai Po team took her home for the night and she'll be sent to Ap Lei Chau on Friday.

Also arriving on Friday will be three more dogs from AFCD Sheung Shui, all just a year old and very sweet-natured (as we were told by the AFCD staff).  This is a great opportunity for those potential adopters who want a young-but-not-puppy family member.  Photos will be shared as soon as the dogs arrive at our Tai Po Homing Centre on Friday morning.

One of the pair of antique chairs

For something completely different but also important, bearing in mind the fact that we haven't been able to hold any of our big fundraising events for a couple of years so we have to look at other ways to raise money.  Someone is very kindly donating a pair of antique Chinese chairs which we will sell to the highest bidder, so here's some information about them.  They were bought in Beijing in 1982 by a collector of antiques, and although there's no actual certificate of authenticity because that's the way things were done back then, they're genuine antiques and have been carefully stored since their purchase forty years ago.   If you're interested in buying these chairs please email me directly at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com with your bid (as a guideline they are worth over $10,000).

The chairs would look very impressive alongside one of the Chinese paintings we're still offering for sale at the rather less expensive price of $500 for one or $1000 for three.  They're also old, even antique so a real bargain, and please bear in mind that full proceeds from the chairs and the paintings will go directly towards helping the dogs, so it's like a donation but getting something valuable and worthwhile in return.  For a catalogue of the paintings that are still available please email eva.loo@hongkongdogrescue.com, or come to our Ap Leu Chau Homing Centre to see them.

Also a valuable donation we always need newspapers to use for our puppy toilet training.  Don't ask me why but the puppies seem to be attracted to newspaper and somehow know that it's there for their toilet needs.  It's also environmentally friendly, so we much prefer it to the pee pads (which just get ripped up by the puppies anyway). Please collect as many newspapers as you can from friends, neighbours and your office, and drop at either of our Homing Centres, and thank you!

You may remember a puppy called Billy Bob, one of a litter rescued as newborns during heavy rain and the only survivor.  Luckily there was a resident dog in Billy Bob's foster home so he wasn't lonely, and although now adopted I wanted to share this very sweet and short video about one very lucky puppy.

For all enquiries about fostering please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, and for adoptions please take the first step by completing the adoption questionnaire with as much detail as possible about your home and situation: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
