Tues 9th June: Dogs losing friends and families

Meet the Sugarbabe sisters
People have been asking which dogs and puppies will be at the Sunday event at The Murray in Central, and at this point we're not sure as anything can happen between now and then.

HKDR will be holding a mini adoption event this Sunday at The Murray, a dog-friendly hotel in Central!
“The Arches" area within the hotel is on the first floor and sheltered, so we can stay dry if it's raining and out of the sun if it's hot! Come say hello and meet our available HKDR dogs!
🐾HKDR Mini Adoption Day🐕
Date: 14 June 2020 (Sun)
Venue: The Arches, Level 1, The Murray, Hong Kong, a Niccolo Hotel
Time: 12pm-3pm
Our Adoption Day is OPEN for ANYONE who is interested in adopting. You may also book an afternoon tea spot for Paws for Tea at The Murray on the day by calling 3141 8888!
See you on Sunday!

Our Homing Centres at Ap Lei Chau and Tai Po are open every single day, so we don't know who may be adopted before the weekend, or if any new dogs will come in.  For example today I received a message that there were puppies at Pokfulam AFCD, so as I was busy elsewhere our driver Ming went to pick them up and take them straight to Concordia Pet Care for a health check and vaccination.  They appear to be in good health and condition, and are available for adoption at any time.  I have called them the Sugerbabe Litter, and if you're interested in meeting them please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
We still have Evie's adoption photo from 2014

It feels like a lot of people are leaving Hong Kong and either leaving their dogs behind or not being able to take them due to travel and import restrictions.  I wrote about the two groups of four yesterday, it's very upsetting to think about the dogs and how the loss of their long-term home, family and each other will affect them.   Evie was adopted from us in 2014 as a very sweet-natured young mongrel, and now she will be coming back as a mature adult, if not quite a senior yet.  One of the beagles was also adopted from us as a one year-old, and although she will almost certainly find a new home very quickly, it will mean being on her own for the first time in six years unless there's already another dog in the new home (which we would obviously prefer).
The labradors are black and chocolate colour

The four, maybe five, labrdors are already twelve years old and we assume they have been living as a family group for all that time.  Of course finding homes for all of them together isn't going to happen, but again we would prefer that they go in pairs at least, or to home where there's another dog.   Dogs feel the loss of their families just the same as people do, and that includes both their dogs friends and their humans.

We do try to help as many dogs as we can, although of course with so many already at our Tai Po Homing Centre there's a limit to how many large-sized adults we can accept.   We can take in all smaller dogs as they are adopted far more quickly, and the same for puppies.  There's a surrender form on our website for such cases, but please only ask for help if you genuinely need it.
