Thurs 18th June: More puppies coming

Two new tinies behind Coconut
We have more puppies coming to the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, two of them pictured here with Coconut who, after some discussion about his large size, ended up going back to Tai Po rather than staying at Ap Lei Chau.  He reminds me a lot of my Lamma dog Safari with his black tongue and solid body, and if he grows up to be the same he'll be a first class guard dog while being a very loyal and affectionate family member.
Enzo is a lovely boy, but sadly he has heartworm

All in all it was another busy day with lots of vet visits needed for new dogs and puppies, and as expected (because I was told the ex-owner had done nothing at all) Enzo has heartworm.    I don't know how many times I've said it, but again if you don't give some form of protection you dog will almost certainly be infected.  It's so frustrating and disappointing when the test comes back positive because you know it's a long treatment time ahead, and it's hard to keep an active dog quiet for the month to six weeks required.

Now for some good news, Tai Po dog Max was adopted today while another one of the four surrendered labradors was taken for fostering.
Max is such a lovely boy and he has a home now

Also moving from his foster home to a new forever family was golden retriever Norton, another sad case of a dog being found stray and in poor condition.  I know his life will be a happy one from now on, that's for sure.
Look at Norton's happy face!
