Thurs 4th April: Two poodles and a Cat

Puppies love to sleep crammed together in one bed
There are still far too many unwanted puppies being born, and almost every day I get requests to take in litters which we just have no space for.  It's hard to say no but we can't keep saying yes when we have a Homing Centre full of puppies, plus seven more in foster homes that will be ready for adoption very soon.  Puppies grow so quickly and change from adorable babies to being six months old in the blink of an eye, and while we can - and do - send the older puppies to the Tai Po Homing Centre, it's still weighs heavily on my mind that these older pups may grow up without ever being chosen.  Many of our Tai Po dogs were once such puppies, and while they don't have a terrible life it's still not the same as a real home.

The smaller dogs are a different matter as we know that sooner or later they will be adopted, and while two more poodles arrived at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre today, corgi Hamish was chosen to go to his new home.
Hamish will live like a king in his new home

We also took in a medium-sized dog we were told was the mother of our previous "Kitten Litter", so I called her Cat.  She looks very like another mixed breed that came from the same source, and it's very likely that Cat and Cotton were sisters, or at least related.

Remember the tiny Kitten Litter?

Cat is apparently the mother of the Kitten Litter

Friday is a Public Holiday but we will be open as always at both of our Homing Centres as well as being at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday with all of the puppies.

Saturday is our long-anticipated Flag Day and we'll have volunteers out on the streets of Hong Kong Island collecting for the dogs.  I'm hoping the fact that it's Rugby Sevens weekend will work in our favour and that the prevailing happy mood will mean more open hearts and wallets.  Please stop and buy a "Flag" if you see a volunteer with a collection bag as this event is the result of many months of planning and hard work, not to mention the kindness of the volunteers donating their time on the day itself.  Thank you!
Each "Flag" represents one of our HKDR dogs
