Sun 14th April: Not a bad day considering

Dogs and volunteers at the Hellodog Fest today
Despite the rain today wasn't a complete wash-out and we had a few adoptions and a successful event at the Hellodog Fest, thanks to the brilliant team of volunteers, for which as always many thanks.  There was even a good turnout for the workshops even though they were held outside (and under cover), and although one of our dog volunteers was scared by the thunder and hid under a table the other three were very brave and handled their duties like professionals.

We've been keeping our smallest litter of pups out of public view until now, the main reason being that we were afraid of them coming down with tick fever.  One, the only female, had to go to hospital soon after arrival although she is fine now, while a second pup is currently at Acorn for the same reason. It's hard to believe these little babies were found as strays and covered with fleas and ticks, and the mother (and father) must still be out in the countryside somewhere.  It's heartbreaking.

Percy was the only one from his litter
The largest fluffy pup, Womble, went to Whiskers N Paws today and was quickly chosen, while the only pup from another mother, Percy, was also adopted and has gone to live with ex-HKDR dog, Pip.

Regular volunteer Jimmy Tsang was the photographer for the afternoon and you can see the full album here  Puppy Adoption Day 14 April 2019 — at Whiskers N Paws (Hong Kong)
Jimmy has been such a great supporter for a long time and is always happy to help, so thank you Jimmy!.

Due to the weather we didn't have many puppies at Whiskers N Paws, so the third pup from this group was adopted at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, as was new schnauzer girl Twizzle.

I thought that the little fluffy pup at Acorn with tick fever was going to need a donation of blood, so I brought one of my Lamma dogs, Oliver, over with me for that purpose.  As it happened the transfusion was delayed so Oliver had to come with me to Whiskers N Paws where he behaved like a star.  I was so proud of him, as you have to remember that my Lamma dogs never see what is considered normal things like cars and people, but Oliver took it all in his stride and was very happy to accept pats and ear rubs from anyone offering.   If you would like to sponsor Oliver on a regular basis you can do so through the Life Saver Club, a monthly sponsorship programme for our long-termers.  Please email Ellen at lifesaver@hongkongdogrescue.com for information.
Oliver really enjoyed his afternoon at Whiskers N Paws

Another way to donate on a one-off basis is through www.twopresents.com, a gift sharing option which makes giving fun and easy.  Today Sasha had chosen to share her birthday via Twopresents and came to Whiskers N Paws to write the giant cheque.  Thank you Sasha!
