Mon 1st April: No jokes today

Yannie, Jun Kung, manager Angela and Eva
I didn't get much done today as Eva, Yannie and I were invited to have lunch with adopter/supporter Jun Kung at his new Min Jun's Cart Noodles eatery in Causeway Bay, and it ended up lasting until quite late in the afternoon.  The speciality of Min Jun is the freshly-made secret recipe chilli sauce, and for every jar sold $20 will be donated to HKDR.  A word of warning, the sauce is very hot and spicy, so a tiny dab is all you need and a jar will last a long time.

I'd planned to go to AFCD to take out a couple of baby pups I knew were waiting, but in the end it was our driver Ming who picked them up and took them to Acorn for their first vaccination.  He returned to Ap Lei Chau with a very happy office dog Brandy, who was over the moon to be back "home" after donating blood for Stinker the beagle.
The pups went straight to a foster home

I know everyone wants to know how Stinker is doing, and while he's much better than he was he's still not great.  Bite wounds on his body indicate that the poor boy must have been bitten by other dogs (presumably), and he will have to stay in hospital for the time being.  At least he's alive which is nothing short of a miracle given what he went through, and on top of the fact that he's an old boy and not in the best of health anyway.
Bindi is taking her sister's place with Terry's family

Our regular volunteer Tai Po dog walker Terry, who also happens to be a valued HKDR Board Member, took home yet another senior today.  This time it was Bindi, sister of Terry's previous adoptee Mindy, who recently succumbed to cancer.  Terry and his family open their doors to the old dogs whose chance of a home is slim-to-zero, so they can enjoy their twilight years in peace and comfort.  When the time comes for them to move on to the Great Kennel in the Sky, another senior is given that dog's place.
Big and fluffy Georgia

I wanted to share a wonderful photo of one of our ex-HKDR dogs, an Alaskan malamute called Georgia, who was lucky enough to end up in Canada.  This is how malamutes should live, in the snow and loving it!

  1. Congrats on saving and finding homes for so many dogs and puppies alike, who otherwise would have been put down. Thank you to you and your team, Sally for your dedication in saving so many! <3 <3 <3
