Sat 9th July: A great start

Chalkie was in and out
As promised, the potential adopter for new boy Chalkie came to meet him as soon as we opened, and as a result not only has this lovely little dog got a new and guaranteed forever home but so has ex-breeder Yorkie Mona, who will also be joining the family.
Mona is the last of the ex-breeder Yorkies

That was a great start to the day and we had expected the adoptions to continue, but unfortunately the first two lucky dogs were the only ones, but at least puppy Tony left hospital to go to his new foster home (for which many thanks).

I'd expected maltipoo Target to be in and out
A few people have been to meet Target, a Maltese/poodle mix and a dog I thought would be chosen very quickly.  He has everything required to make a lovely family member, including the much-requested non-shedding coat, a lovely nature and a young age.  He wasn't microchipped when he ended up at AFCD but he was estimated to be around two years, barely an adult really.

Then there's Bomber, a really fantastic little dog in my eyes, also young and full of character and charm.  His only failing is that he's not great with other dogs, but as a single dog in any home he would be perfect, and he's really very small, much smaller than he appears to be in the photo.
I love Bomber!

I'm receiving quite a few nice enquiries and questionnaires for various dogs at the moment, but after becoming very excited at the prospect of one or more of our Tai Po dogs finding homes, there is a follow-up message saying they (the potential adopter) is going away for a month or so and will come after the holiday.  I suppose that means we have something to look forward to, but I'm impatient for the dogs to be out of the Homing Centre, especially when we are having such unbearable weather.  If it's not incredibly hot it's pouring with rain, and I'm sure I'm not the only one whose dogs just hate the electric storms.

Rain or not, I will be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday with the younger hopefuls, along with the rest of the volunteer team who turn up every weekend to help out.  Claudia, Andrea, Becky, Catherine and Stella give up their free time whenever they are available, and they are an amazing and dedicated group.  Semirah has also been coming to Whiskers N Paws as a volunteer photographer for a very long time, and has now recruited others to help out on an occasional basis.  If you love taking photos, especially of dogs, and would also like to become one of the Sunday team, please let me know.  It wouldn't mean being there every week, just occasionally, but Semirah is looking for some kind of commitment to cover a regular slot. Email me at sally@hongkongdogrescue.com if you are interested.
