Fri 1st July: A celebration for Yorkies

Java is the one on the right
It was an almost-exclusively Yorkie day today as one by one the little newcomers left Ap Lei Chau with their adopters, and now there is only Mona left.  I have a feeling she will also have gone before Saturday closing, and there are others I have high hope for too.  No names just yet but we'll see.
Only Mona is still available, but not for long I suspect
Lotus leaves to start her new life
Zita was the second Yorkie of the day to be adopted

Bruce the Collie was picked up for fostering, having been given the extra day at the Homing Centre rather than having to go to Tai Po because he is is such a sweet and gentle boy that his size was overlooked.  Other than the need for regular grooming Bruce will make a lovely and very undemanding family member, and if you are interested in meeting him please contact our Foster Coordinator Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com to arrange.

There are a lot of happy faces here

Bruce has a foster home but it can only be very temporary

Meanwhile a group of very happy Tai Po dogs were treated to a day out, something which always makes me wish they could do the same every day with forever families.  Many of these dogs have been with us for years, even going back to our Pokfulam days, and that's a very long time in their terms.  I really hope the day will come when there is no discrimination about breeds, and that every animal is judged on merit.  If that were applied right now then almost all of our wonderful dogs would already be in homes but sadly they will continue waiting.
Felix, and his sisters Alison and Jersey, are such wonderful dogs
