Sun 17th March: Happy Bugsday!

Hopper didn't wait long for a home

Some dogs are just lucky, and this little "bug" is one of them as he left the Homing Centre today with his new daddy.  We called him Hopper, but I suspect he'll have a new name by now.

Also finding her new family after so many enquiries about her was Sandy, a very sweet and young mixed breed.

Looks like a girl wire-haired dachshund

I'm also happy that following so many visits from potential adopters, other dogs will be packing their bags in the coming week, but at the same time I got a late request to take in three more.  We had previously put a hold on these dogs because we had no space, but from the sound of it they have been driving around ever since.  Not literally, but they were now in urgent need of a place to stay so I agreed they could come.  However we still don't really have the space especially as these aren't very small dogs, but one is a wire-haired dachshund so I hope the breed gives her a good chance.  I'm told all three are happy and friendly dogs, as you can see from the videos.  Even if you can't adopt, we would be happy for these dogs to go to a foster home until they're adopted, and if you can take them in temporarily please complete the foster application form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/.   These dogs look very much like the Sandy type, meaning young and very sweet, so I hope they have the same interest and luck.

I also loved this video of Bucket at Tai Po so much, and now you can see how he got his name.  He's a Cane Corso and a big strong boy, so he needs a home with lots of outdoor space so he can indulge in his favourite sport of bucket throwing.

Thank you Samara!

There weren't any adoptions at Whiskers N Paws today  Puppy Adoption Day 17th March 2024, but we did receive a wonderful TwoPresents donation from Samara.  She has been a regular donor over the years as she shares her birthday with HKDR and the dogs.

The photos this week were taken by volunteer Kevin Chan, with many thanks for the time and skill donated to show off the lovely puppies.

If you're interested in adopting, please take the first step by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.
