Weds 7th Oct: Nine new babies, nine new dogs

We had a surprise delivery at Tai Po today of nine baby pups, somewhere between two and three weeks of age, and apparently with two separate mothers both of whom are small.  We don't know about the father so he might be bigger, but hopefully these babies won't grow into large sized adults and will remain petite.

I immediately posted on Facebook for adopters or fosters and thankfully all puppies have somewhere to go now, even if temporarily.  If you're interested in adopting when they're a little bit older please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

We're also getting ready for the arrival of the AFCD dogs, nine of them, with two senior poodles and two shiba inu, also mature adults,  going to Ap Lei Chau, and two akita and a few mixed breeds heading for Tai Po.  Again if you're interested in adoption please don't ask to meet the dogs without first completing the questionnaire.

I had to send one of my Lamma dogs to Concordia Pet care in the morning, and I think I get as stressed about it as the dogs do when this happens.  They spend their lives in a remote part of Lamma and never meeting anyone, let alone having to make the trip by boat and van, so I'm excited about the big news that a new vet clinic will soon be opening in Ap Lei Chau.  It will mean the dogs at the Homing Centre being able to walk to the clinic, and for the Lamma dogs just a short sampan trip over.  Watch this space for updates, especially if you live near Ap Lei Chau and are on the lookout for a vet close to you.
