Tues 6th Oct: Shiba inu coming and going

First thing I do need to mention that the shiba inu group posted on Facebook as having been surrendered to AFCD by a "pet shop" (unlikely) are NOT young dogs and certainly not puppies. The original post (on Facebook) by another organisation gave this impression and also said all of the dogs had now been re-homed, but that is also incorrect.  What the post was meant to say was that all of the dogs went to AFCD and had been offered to various animal NGOs in pairs, including HKDR, but at this point they are all still available to my knowledge.  We will be picking up the two that are coming to HKDR on Thursday, along with two poodles, aged twelve and thirteen, two akitas and several mixed breeds.  Again all of the dogs are older, except two of the mongrels, so if you have already applied to adopt of one the shiba inu or are planning to, please don't if you are looking for a young dog.  The two shiba inu are ten and eight years old.

If you're interested in adopting any dogs or puppies please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

There is a younger shiba inu available as King (right) was returned today, just after yet another shiba, Damson (below), was adopted.  King came back after the family found him too much to handle, meaning his full-on energy and need to play.  He's a smart and cheeky rascal, and I do realise now that these dogs must have an outdoor space to run around in, and King especially.  He was very happy on Lamma where there was a large outdoor area, and he has come back to to Lamma to wait for his next home which must have the same. This time I won't compromise on the type of home that he goes to because I know it won't work out if he's inside an apartment and bored. If there's nothing interesting going on, King will find something.

Also adopted from Ap Lei Chau today was Baguette the bichon frise, who had made a good recovery after having his painful teeth extracted.

To round up the adoptions, Tai Po dogs Jedi had his forever status confirmed after a short trial. Hooray!
