Everything was thrown into chaos today as the Typhoon 8 signal meant no transport and appointments needing to be cancelled. We had a blood donor lined up for puppy Zara at Concordia Pet Care, as well as a volunteer who offered to pick him up and get him there, however when that didn't work out Tai Po staff member Gigi stepped up and came in to accompany Finn to Happy Valley in a Gogovan. In the end Zara was responding to treatment well enough that she didn't need a transfusion, but Gigi and her friend didn't get back until late evening.
Such is the devotion of our staff at both Homing Centres, and we had a full contingent at Ap Lei Chau too, as well as volunteers who came in to help walk the dogs. In fact it was a perfect day for that, cool and breezy, and the dogs loved it.
As expected there was a litter of very young puppies picked up, their eyes not yet open, but since there isn't heavy rain I asked if it was possible to put them back with the mother, for a while at least. We already have so many babies in foster and I don't know if there are others available who could bottle feed and take care of such tinies, but if you're willing in case we need help please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com. The person who found the puppies is trying to catch the mother too, but dogs are too clever to go into a trap.
