After Sunday night's mad rush to get tiny pup Zia treated when she suddenly crashed while staying in her foster home, we started to see others from the litter of nine doing the same and there was a repeat of the evening scramble to find a vet clinic that could take in Zara. Almost all said they were full, and there were also extra emergency charges as well as night time fees on top. The foster parent was amazing, driving halfway round Hong Kong to get Zara into a clinic, and ending up at Concordia Pet Care in Happy Valley where Zara was found to be seriously ill as a result of tick fever, and she'll need a blood transfusion on Tuesday.
By the end of multiple messages going between myself, Cindy (Foster Cordinator) and the foster parent, it was just a case of getting Zara into a clinic and paying whatever was necessary. Ultimately saving her was what mattered, and now we're facing the same with the other six puppies after three are already in hospital. The cost is going to be eye-watering, especially now that we have a T8 situation to add to the mix, and we need to ask for help in treating these babies. Back to dogs, we had a corgi surrendered today, a seven year-old boy now called Morgan. He'll have to get his license updated as well as everything else as his now ex-owner did nothing.
The recently-arrived shiba inu are settling in and have turned out to be sweet dogs who are happy to mix and mingle with the puppies at Ap Lei Chau.
As always, if you're interested in adopting any of our dogs or puppies please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
