Tues 14th July: Join the 2021 Cube Calendar!

With the uncertainty of these times and whether life as we have known it will ever return, it's become more difficult to plan ahead or even think about potential fundraising or adoption events.  We made the decision not to go ahead with Sunday's Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoon after only just having re-started the other weekend, because restrictions on groups numbers would have been very difficult, if not impossible to control, but please remember that puppies are available every single day at our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre.   In fact if you're looking for a puppy to adopt we currently have some very special and unique youngsters who I fully expect will quickly be chosen, so remember to complete the adoption questionnaire as a first step: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Sadly the Ap Lei Chau dog park has also been closed again, although I don't understand the sense in this since it's very easy to keep a distance from others in the outdoor space.   Volunteer dogs walkers can still take the dogs out, but unfortunately there's no area for free running and play off leash.
Four absolutely adorable puppies

Without the potential to hold big fundraisers like our annual Gala Dinner, which will definitely not be happening this year, or Peak to Fong which may or may not take place as a scaled-down event, alternative ways of raising vital funding have become a priority.  One of these is the return of our much-missed Cube Calendar, and we're now looking for contributors to the page-a-day notepad.

Our amazing HKDR Cube Calendar is making a comeback in 2021! As in previous years, we’re looking for great shots of your photogenic dogs to feature on our 365 day Cube Calendar. For just $380, your adopted dog can be "Dog of the Day" with your photograph featuring exclusively for that day.
Don't have an adopted dog but still want to contribute? No problem. You can choose to sponsor one or more of our available HKDR dogs who are still waiting for a home for $380 each.
More details for submitting your adopted dog's photo: https://hongkongdogrescue.com/2021-cube-calendar/
Deadline for submission: 31 July, 2020
* The production of HKDR Cube Calendar 2021 will be fully supported by Whiskers N Paws - Thank you!
Please note that only adopted dogs are eligible for inclusion, although we're not restricting it to HKDR dogs and puppies.

The last of the four Scotties that came to us recently from AFCD will be leaving the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre on Wednesday, so if you were hoping to come at the weekend I'm sorry there are no more available.  Senior poodle Millie, who came from AFCD along with the Scotties, was also adopted today and has her own family again.

Little Dixon
Puppy Dixon is also due to be picked up after a family discussion and agreement that this is the one they all want, and I was only surprised that he wasn't adopted at Whiskers N Paws last Sunday.  He's the last of his litter and a gorgeous little boy so I'm very happy he has a home now.

Please remember the (literally) hundreds of dogs at our Tai Po Homing Centre waiting to be chosen.  They aren't damaged or broken they're simply unlucky, but you can change that and their life by giving them a second chance. As much as we try to love them and make their time with us as good as it's possible to achieve, we can never be the same as a real home.   We'll remain open every single day for adopters, however please do complete the adoption questionnaire before visiting so we can suggest those dogs that would be the best match in advance.
