Mon 13th July: Beware of the intense heat

Before anything else I want to mention the current intense heat and what not to do.  I saw someone walking two dogs in the middle of the day and on the hot pavements with no shade, and as they were standing at the traffic lights waiting for the green light I could only imagine the dogs' burning paws.  Please don't be one of these people and think about what it must be like if you weren't wearing shoes.  Exercise is important but be sensible about when and where.

Perfectly matched

Scottie Una was adopted today and is proving to be a lovely and very sweet girl who's slotted right in with the other dog in the home.  Una is now Luna and she's booked in for a beauty session to prepare her for her formal adoption photo.
Lottie was very sick when I took her from AFCD

I also want to mention that Cavalier King Charles Lottie had her adoption confirmed by her foster home, and I'm especially pleased about this because Lottie has the typical heart problems of the breed as well as terrible knees.  Of course she's a sweet girl with a loving nature, but how I wish breeders would stop producing these dogs with so many genetic health issues.

All gorgeous puppies

The five new arrivals at Ap Lei Chau were taken to AFCD today for licensing, at least the four younger ones,  while Skippy the chihuahua (type) just needed a rabies vaccination to update the expired one.   On Tuesday they will all be heading off to the vet for their health check and vaccinations against infectious diseases, mainly parvovirus and distemper, while Skippy will need a more thorough check as he's already eleven years old.   I know that the four puppies will have a lot of interest from potential adopters so please complete the adoption questionnaire if you're one of them: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.  We will obviously choose the home that we feel is best suited to the puppies.
