Fri 10th July: Dogs large and small

Tumble
I don't think we've ever had so many adoption enquiries for a mongrel pup as I was getting for baby Paddle throughout the day, and I'm happy for her that she's such a popular girl but for now she's too young to be adopted as a singleton.

We do have other puppies that came to us as very young babies needing bottle feeding, and thankfully we have a fantastic foster home willing to take on yougsters like these two.  Now Ruffle and Tumble are ready to leave their temporary caregiver, and can join little Eagle at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre on Sunday.

We had two more adoptions confirmed today, one being Etta who was a "litter leftover" from a few years ago.  There's usually one who's a little bit shy and hangs back when the siblings push themselves forward to greet potential adopters, and that was Etta.  It's taken some time but now she has her own home and we can finally close the file on that particular litter.

Husky Hanzo was surrendered as an adult and didn't have to wait long to be taken to his new home for a trial, now confirmed as an adoption and with the new name of Amarok.

It was a pretty crazy day at Concordia Pet Care today as all of the new dogs from AFCD were sent as a large group for the health checks and vaccinations.  There were the four Scotties and senior poodle Millie, as well as the five mixed breeds who came over from Tai Po.  I'm still waiting to hear the results of the tests and hope that we won't be dealing with yet more cases of heartworm.

For all adoption enquiries please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Before I forget the twelve year-old labrador that was surrendered the other day is now in a foster home, but there's another chocolate labrador who is a victim of the current flight restrictions and unable to leave with his family.  It's not urgent at this point but we'll be looking for a new home by the end of this month.  Duncan is healthy and fully up to date on all health matters, so please complete the questionnaire if you can offer a suitable home to this lovely family dog.
Duncan will be needing a new family home
