Sun 19th July: A successful sunny Sunday

Lucky and lovely Dennis
Two more Tai Po dogs had their adoptions confirmed after a trial period, while new-ish boy Dennis was also taken home today.  That's three more dogs whose lives have been changed forever, so thank you to their adopters and everyone who chooses to save a life rather than buy one.

Savanna's adoption was confirmed today

Although once again we had "lookers" and those who just wanted to play with the puppies at Ap Lei Chau, we have to say no, sorry, as we can only allow those who are genuinely intending to adopt to spend time inside the Homing Centre.   Still, one puppy did find her new family and that was Jilly.

We also took in a poodle boy, another dog who in his whole seven years has never been licensed or vaccinated (that we know of) and has been passed from home to home to home.  If you wonder why we try to be so careful when homing our dogs and puppies, and in particular to young people, this is why.  Although the intention to care for a puppy might be genuine and heartfelt, the reality is quite another thing, and we have a whole Centre of "Red Dogs" to prove it.  When damage is done to a puppy, and particularly a highly sensitive breed like a poodle, it's very hard to undo it.  Luckily so far this poodle boy, now called Ziggy, seems to be fine in terms of temperament and he was taken straight to AFCD for licensing.
At least Ziggy is licensed now

Another small dog who's been in foster after coming to us in a very poor condition went to his new forever home today.  Schnauzer Schnitzel has been very well cared for during the past seven months and is quite a different dog from the sickly boy who arrived at the end of last year.
Schnitzel had a wonderful foster home, for which many thanks

We have new dogs and puppies arriving on Monday, another poodle, Yorkie, mixed breed and three young babies. We may also be getting another puppy following a message I got last night asking if we could help.

If you are interested in adopting we do need to ask you to complete the questionnaire before coming to either of the Homing Centres to meet the dogs and puppies.  We may not have what you're looking for (we don't have any golden retriever puppies) and if we do we can send details in advance of your visit.  The questionnaire is at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
