Weds 11th Sept: Looking back to 11 years ago

Although this relates to Thursday, I have to share this now or it will be too late It’s TODAY!
Special thanks to singer Stephanie Ho 何雁詩for picking us to be the beneficiary charity for the radio show Share My Song@ 881903! From today (9/12 6:00 am) to 9/13 6:00am, please support Hong Kong Dog Rescue by sending a blank SMS to 50 881 903! Each SMS means a donation of $5 to HKDR. Your telecom service provider will debit the money from your monthly statement..

This week has been a bit different from the norm, leaving me no time to go to AFCD other than to drop off license paperwork and take a quick look at the dogs there.  I've had various appointments lined up, such as going to sign the next two year's agreement for the Tai Po site which will take us up to 2021, meaning eleven years at the Homing Centre. As always the memory of seeing it for the first time when we were about to lose the Pokfulam Kennels is very clear in my mind, and if you haven't already seen it you can find the "Big Move" video on YouTube, and what a day that was, getting every single dog plus equipment across Hong Kong in one go  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK3fTa2hE9E The empty kennel site is still sitting there, no doubt waiting for the go-ahead to build another apartment block.

I'm after this kind of look for the evening
I also realised that with the upcoming Bohemian Pupsody event a little more than a week away I would have to do something about finding an appropriate outfit to wear, something Freddie Mercury-ish if I can find it.  Our big parties are always designed to be fun, so you can dress up or not, as you wish.  There are no rules other than having a good time and helping us raise funds for HKDR and the dogs.  Remember too that you can bid on any of the auction items even if you're not present on the night, and there are amazing Live and Silent prizes to win.  Take a look at the Live Auction programme for a taste of what's in store........

We're always happy to receive donations of any kind, whether it's money, dog food or even cleaning products, and bearing in mind the time of year and Mid-Autumn Festival today's donation was sweet potato mooncakes for the Tai Po dogs, hand-made by one of our volunteers.
The dogs loved the sweet potato mooncakes

We're expecting two surrendered shih tzus to come on Thursday, and hopefully they'll be leaving almost immediately after arrival, and more dogs on Saturday.  Remember that if we don't have what you're looking for on your first visit, new dogs come in all the time and the perfect one for you might be just around the corner.
