Thurs 19th Sept: Hello and goodbye

Oliver and Cromwell, gorgeous brothers new at Ap Lei Chau
I was out at a meeting for the afternoon so our driver Ming was asked to pick up the two sharpei brothers from AFCD, and they're now at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre and very happily playing and eating, as puppies do.  I've called them Oliver and Cromwell, which probably won't mean anything to most non-British but Oliver Cromwell is a well-known character from centuries ago.
Have a great life Jonty!

As the two new puppies joined the Ap Lei Chau group another one was leaving to start his new life as a family member.  Jonty is a lovely boy and very sweet, and I hope he has a wonderful time in his new home.  Puppies are always available to meet at our Homing Centre if you can't come on Sundays, but for the full quota of those available including those in foster homes you would have to be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday afternoons.

Beautiful big Typhoo

We also said a final goodbye to one of our Tai Po dogs as Typhoo's heart gave out and he went to sleep forever.  He had been booked in at Acorn for a re-check after we had already found out that his heart was very enlarged, but it was obviously time for him to claim his wings.  As sad as it is losing any dog, in our situation as a No Kill organisation the natural death of our older dogs is something that we have to deal with on a regular basis, and as for Typhoo he will never be forgotten thanks to Sony having visited Tai Po on Wednesday and taken lovely videos of him.  They said he was a very handsome boy and they were right.  Sleep well Typhoo.

We had the expected last-minute surge in ticket sales for our Saturday party "Bohemian Pupsody" so it's going to be a full house again.  We can add extra tables if you suddenly decide you're going to be missing out on a fantastic night, which is true, but Friday is the absolute deadline for any additions.  Please email Nicole at nicole@hongkongdogrescue.com if you are kicking yourself that you haven't already done so, and if you're coming of course I'll see you there.

If you're not coming but wish that you were, you'll miss out on the fun but you don't need to miss the opportunity to bid on any of the auction items as bidding is open to everyone via this link https://bidr.co/events/teddie

Please remember that this is a fundraising event that's very important to us as a non-funded charity, so be generous and think of it as a donation that gives back something amazing.  Even as someone who hasn't been on a bike since I was young I love the Peloton Wave wall sculpture, and would be thrilled to go on safari in Africa to see the elephants.  Also May So's talent as an artist is already well known in dog-owning circles, so a personalised watercolour portrait would be a cherished item for years to come.  In fact there's something for everyone at every price range, so click on that button and make your bid.
With special thanks to all sponsors and volunteers!

Thank you once again to the sponsors and volunteers who have made this event possible, and that includes the photographers and videographers that have donated their skills and time to give us memories that we can look back on.  They will also be there on Saturday evening to capture the moment, so make sure you get your own photo in front of the backdrop and there'll be a great goodie bag to take home too!
