Mon 2nd Sept: Another day at home

These pups are now Kibble, Biscuit, Cracker, Butter, Marge and Jammy
I was all set to go to work today but the wind and waves were still too high to allow it, so I had another day at home.  There's more than enough to keep me busy, which included coming up with a bunch of puppy names for both Sunday's new arrivals and today's.  We have a full house again, in fact an over-full house, so foster homes are always needed please.  As always you can contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you're able to help.

I do get a lot of enquiries for puppy adoption, but too many from those who are looking for a small-sized puppy who is quiet and independent.  That's like asking for a human baby who can take care of itself for the whole day while not making any noise like crying, which will annoy the neighbours, and in fact even adult dogs don't like being left alone for long hours.  If your lifestyle means that you need to be away from home all day then either don't get a dog, or at least have more than one.

You know from reading my blog that many adopters who start off with a single dog come back for a second, because once you've made the commitment to one it's no more work or trouble having a pair.  In fact it's true to say that having two dogs that are good friends means a lot less is required of the humans when it comes to keeping a dog entertained, and there's nothing better than watching dogs play.

There's a pair of small dogs that are in need of a home, both very sweet, and as they're closely bonded we don't want to separate them.  Beauty and Angel are three and four years old, and if you're interested in giving then a home please complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt).  They're currently in a foster home so not available to meet at the Homing Centre.  Additional photos, video and information are available if you are seriously considering offering them a home.
Beauty and Angel are best friends

A lot of people are asking me about Otis, the dog that was one of a pair left tied up outside SPCA in Wanchai, and I hope I'll have some news soon.  In the meantime his "sister" Hailey is proving to be as sweet-natured and lovely as she always was, and the ideal dog for a family with childen, cats or other dogs.  Hailey's still currently at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre but I really hope she can find a new home before long, and even better if it is with Otis. However in this case and given their different personalities, we will home them separately if needed.
