Weds 3rd May: Exporting Snow to Canada

Our failed TNR dog is now at Tai Po
As the Stanley Barracks "Trap and Neuter but not Return" dog was sent to Tai Po, another dog was leaving to start her new life in Canada, a much better place for a husky than Hong Kong.  Snow had been with us for quite some time so it was really nice to see her finally heading off to her forever home, and thank you to her adopter for this fantastic opportunity.

Little papillon Butterfly had already been in her foster home for a while when her adoption  was confirmed today, as was senior pomeranian Pimms who also had his status upgraded from temporary to permanent resident. So congratulations to both failed fosters for joining the "Flopsters" Club, of which there are now quite a few members.

The turnover of small dogs at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre is certainly much faster than at Tai Po where the bigger dogs stay, and that allows us to take more in as needed.

Phoebe is a very sweet 6 year-old girl
Today's new arrival was a very sweet dachshund girl, now called Phoebe, and we're expecting more little ones very soon.  As always if you're interested in adopting then please complete the questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt) , but please remember that we're not breeders or a pet shop and we don't keep a supply of small-sized purebreed puppies hidden away in a back room. We do occasionally get such puppies in but there is a waiting list and they go out again almost immediately.  If you are looking for a particular type, size or age please keep checking, as new dogs arrive all the time and any one of them could be just what you want.  Please also be flexible and realistic, and consider that maybe you don't need to be quite so rigid about the breeds.  There are many types of dog that are suitable for allergy sufferers for example, not only poodles.

When the vizsla brothers arrived in March they were in poor condition
The two vizsla adults that came to us not long ago were very quickly, in fact immediately, adopted and they have turned into very lovely and healthy boys.  However they are in need of a new home due to the aforementioned allergy problems, and in this case it's the young son with the situation having now become quite urgent. If you can offer these two very sweet brothers a home with enough space and plenty of exercise, please complete the adoption questionnaire as above. We would really like them to stay together if at all possible so preference will be given to any good home that can adopt both.
