Tina-now-Tilly was adopted today |
Some dogs are just lucky, and the Stanley Barracks "Trap, Neuter but Failed Return" mother dog Tina is one of them. She came just at the right time to be taken home today as being the perfect size, age and temperament, and hopefully it will also create a dent in the puppy production at the barracks, even if only temporarily. Tina-now-Tilly is, I strongly suspect, the mother of many of the Stanley Barracks puppies that have passed through our doors, and all of her offspring inherited her kind and gentle nature. How many other semi-stray dogs could walk straight into a home, settle down and even be fine with the resident cat as well as the children? Temperament is far more important than a breed name any day, but with these dogs you get the full package of looks and wonderful personality combined.

The puppies had a great time at Whiskers N Paws as they always do, but sadly only the first-timers Molly and Herbie were adopted, and that was by their broken-hearted foster parents who very quickly caved in and took both pups back home. When you have looked after babies from the time they were two weeks old and needing to be bottle fed it's understandable that there's a strong attachment, and being in a position to be able to adopt sealed the deal.
Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) added 122 new photos to the album Puppy Adoption Day 7 May 2017 — at Whiskers N Paws
Even the charms of a new lookalike litter of babies couldn't tempt anyone to take them home, but there's time for these little ones.

Gorgeous pup Lucy was also taken home after having been adopted a couple of weeks ago and being in foster in the interim.

Four new breeder poms arrived at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre along with a dachshund puppy. She had an adopter lined up to meet her so isn't available. but it just goes to show that if you can wait you may be lucky enough to find the dog of your dreams.

The poms also had a family waiting to meet them when they arrived, and one lucky girl was taken home immediately.
Another pom, Cosmo, also had his adoption confirmed, so we're slowly but surely working our way through the very large pom "flock" at Ap Lei Chau.
