The Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre was handed over and is no more, and I expect the demolition of the entire building will take place very soon. The final monthly adoption tally for this small Homing Centre/office is shown below, and until the new Kennedy Town premises are ready for occupation all dogs are staying in foster homes, or on Lamma. A few have been squeezed into the "Red Dog" Centre at 21 Main Street, Ap Lei Chau, and for the time being this will also be our mailing address and contact point. Please do not send any donations of bedding to this address as there's really no space to store anything other then essentials like food, treats and so on.
This is really proving to be a very difficult period in HKDR's history, with the move coming at the same time as so many are having to stay home and isolate, leaving us short of staff and volunteers, especially at our large Tai Po Homing Centre. There's no way that we can just close the doors and let everyone work from home because the dogs are there, and nothing will change the fact that they need looking after. We are urgently in need of volunteer manpower, so if you are able to help out, even if not a registered volunteer, please email eva@hongkongdogrescue.com to let her know.
We have many puppies in foster homes that you can meet by arrangement, and to start the process please complete the adoption questionnaire (www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/) as a first step. We can then recommend those puppies that would be most suited to your home and family. Some foster puppies have their own Instagram pages @why_i_foster and @typhoon_k_puppies, while sisters Lucy and Lorna are staying at Whiskers N Paws as full time guests, so they are available to meet any day.
