Tues 1st March: Facing setbacks

As life becomes increasingly difficult for almost everyone in Hong Kong we're having to rely more and more on outside help from volunteers, whether in person at the Tai Po Homing Centre, or those who have taken in dogs and puppies for fostering.  Without this support we would probably collapse under the effort of trying to continue, so I'd like to say once again how much we all appreciate everyone who has come forward to offer their time, or space in their homes.   Our volunteer Foster Coordinator Cindy deserves a medal for all the extra work she's having to deal with.

The floor, walls and ceiling are complete

Iris, the Manager of the soon-to-be Kennedy Town Homing Centre, has been overseeing the design and work at the new site, but this project is also facing huge setbacks as materials can't be imported from China.  All of the wall cabinets and dog pens that were going to be pre-made and shipped in will now have to be built in Hong Kong, which will not only take longer but will also cost more.  We originally thought the new space would be ready by mid-March, but now it will be at least the end of March before we can move the dogs in.   The same issue applies to the office-plus-Red-Dog-Centre, which will be delayed even more as work hasn't started yet.

We have many smaller dogs and puppies in foster homes, and with the temporary cancellation of the Sunday puppy parties at Whiskers N Paws we have to rely on our Facebook Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) and Instagram @hkdr_official pages to show and promote all of those available.   If you're interested in adopting, please start by completing the questionnaire (www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/) so we can arrange meetings with those dogs or puppies that we feel would be suitable.

Bliss

Today's featured puppy is Bliss...... Bliss is an absolute sweetheart. She is calm and loves to play or snuggle.

🥰 She follows us around , and is curious about all the things she sees and hears. She also knows when to take herself away somewhere comfy when she wants quiet time. She sleeps quietly by herself through the night. She is fully pee pad trained and answers to basic commands (sit, wait etc). She loves being told that she is a good girl 😉 Any loving family will be lucky to have her! 💕.’

  1. Sally, my heart goes out to you and your team with all that you are facing during these most trying times! Plus the mass exodus of people leaving Hong Kong. This is unprecedented. Hang in there. XXX
