We had an amazing day today, thanks in part to Toffee the dachshund who drew in many potential adopters even though ironically he was still with us by the end of the day. I wasn't too surprised, because you have to meet dogs before knowing you want to adopt them, and as I mentioned in yesterday's post Toffee is more interested in cuddles and toys than other dogs.

Icy (l) and her new big brother York |
Whether it was my blog or pure coincidence, the other two dogs I mentioned yesterday both found homes. Icy went to a long-term volunteer (retired) and multi-adopter over the years, and she is the new sister to ex-Tai Po resident York, replacing Polo who died recently. Thank you to Icy's adopter for knowing that however sad losing a dog is, giving another dog a home really helps to heal and means a lot.

Pringle-now-Sparky has a new home, bed and toy |
Pringle was the other lucky pup and he is now called Sparky, a very suitable name for this gorgous boy. Luckily both of his parents, Pippa and Biggles, also left the Homing Centre recently, so the whole family now have their new homes.

Ivan going home |
While a group of our younger puppies went off to try their luck at Concordia Pet Care
Puppy Adoption Day 20 July 2019, (with grateful thanks to photographer Yvonne Chan) other dogs and puppies continued to leave our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre. Ivan and Wilfred are two smaller adults that came to us from the same place, leaving others like Tina, Webster, Collins and Tonto the few still available. These dogs are perfect for Hong Kong, being small in size but still robust enough for hiking and social enough to go to the pub for a drink and hanging out.

I have a feeling Judy's turn is coming soon (here at Concordia) |

Wilfred's new family |
Sadie also finally found a lovely family home, which is perfect for her being such a sweet and easy older puppy.

Sadie is the perfect family dog, and good with cats too |

Wiki joined his brother Patch |
Behind the scenes there must have been a happy reunion (although we weren't there to witness it) between brothers Wiki and Patch as Wiki moved from his foster home to live with Patch. Again so many people had wanted to adopt Patch at last Sunday's puppy afternoon, but I knew he was a timid boy and not suitable for most homes. His very pretty looks were what attracted so much attention, but you can't choose a dog that way. As expected Patch wasn't happy being alone, and luckily Wiki was still available although due to go to another home today, so the timing was just right.
Again behind the scenes chow chow Chowder passed his trial adoption in his new home, so his adoption was confirmed today.
After such a great day I can only hope that the dogs' luck continues on Sunday, and I'll be at Whiskers N Paws in case you're coming. See you there!
